Midtown Kansas City bakery closes storefront due to safety concerns, construction
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Citing safety and other issues, a midtown business said it will close its storefront, but will not shutter the business.
Enchante opened the bakery at 39th Street and Main Street in January 2023. It served coffee, tea, speciality drinks, sandwiches, and a selection of baked goods.
The owners are now moving on to the next chapter.
"For the safety and comfort of our team and our guests, we have made the decision to close our front doors as we transition to serving our community in a new way," Enchante posted on its website.
The transition means catering to companies, private parties, corporate events, and offering wholesale baked goods to cafes in the Kansas City Metro.
The safety of the area wasn’t the only thing that led to the decision, according to the bakery’s owners.
“After years of navigating streetcar construction and the challenges of a transitioning neighborhood, we have made the decision to shift our focus‚" Enchante’s owners wrote.
Enchante is taking catering orders online for future events.
