KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police took a man into custody in the overnight hours Wednesday into Thursday in connection with a homicide.

The Kansas City Police Department stated that officers responded to an apartment complex in the 600 block of East Minor Drive about 11:30 p.m. and found two women injured.

One of the victims was unresponsive with “significant injuries,” police reported, and was pronounced dead shortly after her transport to a hospital. Police later identified the woman as 22-year-old Dayteonna Thompson.

The other woman suffered minor injuries, KD stated.

Law enforcement identified a man who was known to the women as a person of interest and took him into custody.

There is no other suspect in the investigation, the police department added.
