The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said the best way to protect against the disease is to make sure you’ve been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.

All of the cases in Kansas at this point are in people who have not been vaccinated, according to the state’s health department.

Health departments are working on tracing because measles are so contagious, which the Stevens County Health Department addressed in a social media post.

“Measles is so contagious that if an individual has measles, up to 9 out of 10 of their close s who are not protected will also become infected.”

Vaccines are available at doctors offices, clinics, and health departments.

There are no known measles cases in Missouri at this point according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That page is updated every Friday.
