Truck hauling batteries involved in KCK crash that injured woman, child
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - An SUV and a tractor trailer collide on a Kansas City interstate causing emergency crews to close sections of two highways.
The crash happened on northbound Interstate 635 just past the Interstate 70 ramp around 9:30 a.m. Emergency responders closed three lanes of I-635. Police also blocked off the ramp from I-70 to I-635.
When crews arrived they found the driver of the tractor trailer lost control on the interstate ramp. The truck rolled onto its side and landed on top of an SUV.
A woman and a six-year-old child were in the SUV. The child is hospitalized with serious injuries.
A spokesperson for the fire department said the woman was trapped inside the SUV and crews had to cut her out of the vehicle. She is also hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash.
The police department said the tractor trailer was hauling batteries at the time of the crash.
