Supreme Court Upholds Biden Era “Ghost Gun” Law
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - In a 7-2 vote, the United States Supreme Court upholds a Biden Era “Ghost Gun” law on Wednesday.
The upheld law requires serial numbers on firearms and background checks for buyers. Just like traditional firearms. These laws will now help law enforcement track the privately made firearms that can be purchased in kits online or printed using a 3D printer.
In 2022, law enforcement was seeing an increasing amount of the ghost guns involved in crimes from coast to coast. Since the law went into effect the production and purchases of Ghost guns have declined. Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch Samuel Alito dissented saying that this is a congressional issue — not one to be regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). The other justices ruled that the ATF does have the legal authority to regulate firearms.
