FIRST WARN FORECAST: Dry for now, First Warn for thunderstorms Tuesday night
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Overnight temperatures take a dip into the 30s, so that bus stop Monday morning will be on the colder side. Our morning breeze is persistent out of the northwest but not overly strong. Clouds will be in place to start our Monday, but they should clear as the day goes on. This will at least help our afternoon temperatures climb into the mid-50s with sunshine later in the day. A decreasing wind will actually make for a decent Monday, just cooler than normal for this time of year.

A surge of some warmer air is back on Tuesday as winds switch back out of the south. While it will be gusty, our highs make it to the 60s. Most of the day does look dry, but our next system swings through the region Tuesday night. A First Warn is in place as thunderstorm chances ramp back up. At this point, the entire KCTV viewing area is at a level 2/5 risk for severe weather. The latest computer models want to bring storms back as early as late Tuesday evening but really ramp up overnight and early Wednesday morning. With a line of storms likely coming through, hail and gusty winds will be the main concern, but we cannot rule out a brief tornado. We will be watching the timing of these storms, but hopefully, they will swing through by the time we start our Wednesday morning commute. With some heavier downpours possible, we could pick up a quarter to half inch of rain by the time this system is gone. This midweek setup does come with another cold front. We drop back to the upper 50s and lower 60s for the end of the week.

That sets the stage for what could be a rather wet pattern ahead. Thursday will be mainly dry, but I am seeing signs of some spotty rain showers on Friday. Confidence is growing to have a damp Saturday. For this reason, I added a new First Warn to the forecast. Right now, storms are not looking overly likely, but some nuisance light rain is on the table. Computer models are all over the place with timing right now, however.
