Grain Valley man charged with I-470 road rage shooting, endangering child
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - A Grain Valley man is charged in connection with a road rage shooting that shut down part of a busy interstate and tied up traffic in both Lee’s Summit and Independence.
Christian Eubanks is charged with:
- Unlawful use of a weapon
- Armed criminal action
- Endangering the welfare of a child
Police responded to a call about people in two vehicles shooting at each other on March 21 near NE I-470 and NE Lakewood Way in Lee’s Summit.

According to court documents, the driver of a truck involved in the incident called police around 12:45 p.m. He said a man in a gray four-door Jeep pulled a gun and shot at him as he drove down the interstate. He returned fire and both vehicles continued to drive north toward Independence.
Court documents show the driver of the Jeep crashed near Route 40 and Arrowhead Drive in Independence.
A driver who witnessed the shooting also called police. The witness told dispatchers that someone in a gray Jeep fired multiple shots at another vehicle and then crashed.
Officers arrived and found the driver of the pickup armed with a handgun and taking cover behind his truck. They also found Eubanks, his girlfriend and their two-year-old daughter in the crashed Jeep, according to the court document.
Investigators said no one was seriously injured in the shootings, but both vehicles were damaged by bullet holes. Shattered glass hit Eubanks’ girlfriend.

The court filing shows multiple people witnessed the alleged exchange of gunfire on the highway.
One witness showed investigators video of the incident. A court document shows something thrown at the Jeep. The document also shows a handgun extend from the Jeep’s driver window before it was fired. The video shows the bullet hitting the pickup before at least one shot from the pickup hits the Jeep.
