Investigation underway after 2 people killed in South Kansas City neighborhood
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police are searching for answers after an afternoon shooting that claimed the lives of two people.
Officers responded to a scene south of Bannister Road on James A. Reed Road around 2 p.m. The investigation focused on a neighborhood south of Truman Elementary School and Arborknoll Gospel Assembly Church.
Investigators found two people, a man and a woman, in front of a house in the South Kansas City neighborhood.
On Tuesday, police identified 32-year-old Derrick Rhodes and 29-year-old Aminah Johnson as the individuals who died.
Officers began life-saving measures until EMS arrived. Both victims were transported to the hospital and later died from their injuries, according to police.
An investigation is underway, and officers are talking to possible witnesses in the neighborhood to see if anyone can help provide details of what happened.
