ANDERSON COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) - A child died Sunday evening after being found in a pond.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office stated that at 6:20 p.m., deputies responded to the call of a missing juvenile in the area of Colony, Kansas.

A child was found in a pond, and EMS rushed them to a hospital. The juvenile died from their injuries a short time later.

The Crest Unified School District 479 released the following statement:

The sheriff’s office asked that the family be allowed to grieve privately.
