Voters in Odessa, Lafayette County asked to improve emergency services on April 8
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Voters in Lafayette County will decide if they are willing to pay to upgrade emergency equipment when they head to the polls on April 8.
Lafayette County includes the cities of Odessa, Lexington, Higginsville, Bates City, and others.
The 911 Sales Tax question asks voters to decide whether the county should impose a countywide sales tax of one-half of one percent.
If approved, money from the sales tax will be used to upgrade emergency dispatch equipment, telephone services that are relied upon during emergencies, emergency ambulance services, and for other emergency services.
If ed, the sales tax would replace the $1 fee charged to every phone line.

In addition to the countywide 911 sales tax, voters living in Odessa will choose whether to allow the Odessa Fire and Rescue Protection District to issue millions in general obligation bonds.
If the issue es more than $6.8 million in GO bonds will be issued. The money will be used to improve, renovate and repair new and existing fire stations.
It will also allow the fire district to buy fire trucks, vehicles and other needed equipment.
