ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 51 animals from a formerly licensed breeder in Missouri.

The animals included 42 dogs, two cats and seven kittens. The facility was owned by a formerly licensed breeder who operated under the name “Wynter Knights” in Cedar County.

The animals were removed after inspectors with the Missouri Department of Agriculture received reports that the animals were in dire condition and that there were dead animals on site.

“The severe neglect these poor animals suffered is abhorrent and inexcusable,” said HSMO President Kathy Warnick. “We will do everything in our power to ensure the rescued dogs are rehabilitated and given a second chance at a happier life.”

The rescue was coordinated in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.

To report an animal who may be in danger or is suffering from neglect or abuse, call the local police and the Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Hotline at (314) 647-4400.
