Children’s Mercy Kansas announces $152 million expansion
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - The Children’s Mercy Hospital (CMH) Kansas is expanding to fulfill patient requests.
The $152 million project in Overland Park aims to expand access to care and keep kids closer to home. Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas will improve its ER, build entirely new spaces, and consolidate some off-campus offices.

This investment will expand services available as patient numbers continue to grow out South.
Priorities were identified through direct from patients and families, which the President of Regional Operations, Amy Fallon, says will be put into motion.
“One of the things we heard very clearly was more access, ‘we want to be able to get in when we want to take our kids to get into a doctor’ or ‘to get into surgery’ or whatever that might look like for that family so we knew access would be a big part of our expansion,” Fallon said.
This project will focus not only on the facilities but also on how patients access them. That means creating more entrances and parking.
One phase of the project, a new pre- and post-operation space, is already in the works and expected to open in 2026. Additional renovation phases are expected to be completed in 2027 and 2029.
