Corrections Officer charged after road rage leads to fight in Chillicothe street

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (KCTV) - A Chillicothe Corrections Officer has been charged in connection to a road rage incident that led to a fight in the middle of the street.

Livingston County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, March 31, indicate that Joshua L. Plaster, a Chillicothe Correctional Center Officer, has been charged with assault in connection to the incident.

A probable cause statement filed by the Chillicothe Police Department revealed that around 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, law enforcement officials were called to the area of Graves and Fredrick St., near the Southtown Shopping Center, with reports of a road rage incident that led to a fight.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a victim who reported they had turned off of Business Highway 36 onto Graves St. when the driver of a white pickup truck made a U-turn in front of him and parked partially in a nearby driveway and partially in the road.

When the victim honked at the pickup’s driver - later identified as Plaster, 39, of Chillicothe - allegedly began to drive recklessly and ed the victim’s vehicle in a no-ing zone. Once in front of the victim, Plaster slammed on his brakes and forced the victim to stop their vehicle.

Investigators said they found the victim and Plaster got out of their vehicles and got into a verbal altercation in the street. Plaster allegedly threatened the victim with firearms before he threw the first punch. The pair eventually separated before the police were called.

Law enforcement officials noted that Plaster was found at his home and taken into custody. He itted to the road rage incident and was booked into the Caldwell County Detention Center as a result.

Plaster has been charged with assault, operating a motor vehicle in a careless manner and peace disturbance. If convicted, he could face up to 5 years behind bars and be forced to pay an up to $12,000 fine.

A bond hearing has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, April 7. As of Saturday, April 5, Plaster remains behind bars with no bond listed.
