‘Currently no staff’: Workforce issues cause confusion at Lee’s Summit Housing Authority
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - Housing Authority leaders have assured those in Lee’s Summit that rent has been paid as the local agency continues to struggle with staffing issues.
The Independence Housing Authority says that on Sunday, April 6, the Lee’s Summit Housing Authority Office has not closed down or moved, however, there is currently no staff in the building save for a maintenance technician.
Housing Authority leaders noted that employees from Independence have helped to manage the Lee’s Summit agency temporarily. The hope is to have staff in place soon to keep doors open during business hours.
“We realize that there are a lot of concerns and we are trying to address all of them as expediently as possible,” said Tina Bartlett, CEO for the Independence Housing Authority. “Rent has been paid to landlords and those with issues have been prioritized to resolve.”
The announcement comes after KCTV5 was alerted by viewers on March 27 that the Lee’s Summit office lights had dimmed. Those with concerns about the agency have been urged to the Independence Housing Authority at 816-836-9200.
