World War II veteran celebrates 100th birthday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) - A World War II veteran and Missouri native celebrated a big milestone in life.

Harry Brown celebrated his 100th birthday on April 1.

Brown was born on a Washington, Missouri, farm in 1925.

“My dad was born in the same house his dad was born in, and I was born in that same house,” he recalled.

In 1944, at 19 years old, Brown enlisted. After ing the Army, he fought through the Campaign of Okinawa, spending 52 days in a foxhole.

After the war, Brown got married and traded his fatigues for a checkered jacket, working as a divisional sales manager for Purina.
