We are First Warning for a freeze by Tuesday morning, and it could damage or kill sensitive and young spring vegetation. Early crops or fresh plants are at risk and if possible, it would be wise to cover them up or bring them indoors. A Freeze Warning is in effect through 9 am.

Tuesday morning starts around 30 in Kansas City, but many places may be in the 20s. Most of us will be below freezing for two to four hours, with everyone above freezing by 9 am. After the chilly morning, the rest of the day is fantastic. We warm to the low 60s with bright, sunny skies for the afternoon. Light winds from the southeast at only 5-10 mph make it even more pleasant.

Wednesday morning could see a spot or two of light rain, but the odds are very slim for any single backyard at just 20%. The afternoon will be the warmest this week with highs in the low 70s, roughly 10 degrees above normal, and have sunshine.

Another very spotty round of light rain is possible early Thursday, again with just a 20% rain chance. The afternoon will be windy with northwest gusts to 35 mph and mostly sunny skies.

Friday is very nice with light winds, mid-60s, and sunshine.

We begin the climb again for the weekend, with Saturday likely being the best day for outdoor plans. Highs will hit the low 70s with sunshine and not-too-windy conditions. Sunday may be the warmest day so far this year, as we may hit 80 for the first time. We have hit 79 four times, but we haven’t hit 80 yet. That said, it does look quite windy with southwest gusts to 40 mph possible.
