Camargo-Wasserman’s case began in 2010 with an investigation into the distribution of child pornography over the internet. During a search warrant execution, he itted to using Limewire to child pornography.
In 2013, a bail bond agent provided documentation from Mexico that said Camargo-Wasserman had died on Oct. 5, 2012. As a result, federal charges were dismissed.
In July 2017, the FBI received information that he was alive and still living in Mexico. Federal charges were filed again in 2018 and he was brought back to the U.S. to face charges in 2024. He is a dual-citizen of both the U.S. and Mexico, according to court documents.
