Convicted felon faces multiple charges for felony harassment in Independence
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - An Independence man has been charged with three counts of felony harassment following several instances of threatening behavior toward a woman.
Court documents in Jackson County said 54-year-old Dennis Boer repeatedly sent threatening texts to a woman and placed an Airtag on a vehicle without the woman’s consent.
Independence Police were initially called to a victim’s home on Feb. 25, 2025. The woman claimed Boer sent text messages which showed a picture of a house close to her location at the time. Boer asked in a text if the woman was planning on buying the house.
A day later, the woman responded to IPD headquarters and said she’d located an Airtag on her vehicle after telling police the day before she suspected a tracking device was on her car.
Court documents said the tracking device was ed to the last four digits of Boer’s phone number and said the woman received a text from Boer telling her “I hope you made plans for you to meet the man upstairs.”

In early March, the woman reported vandalism at her home after she found disparaging remarks spray-painted on her garage door. On March 3, the woman reported a violation by Boer of an ex-parte filed against him when he texted her, “who’s car is in the driveway?”
On April 6, Boer continued sending text messages to the woman. Court documents said one of the messages threatened her, saying “I catch you with anyone and you will never see another day.” Another read, “you’re a dumb b---- I’ll tell you that.” A final message said “Hopefully I could just f--- you up so bad you can’t who the f--- you are.”
Court documents allege the threatening messages from Boer came via text, direct messages on X, and Facebook Messenger.
Independence Police said they recovered 577 total pieces of evidence from the victim. IPD said Boer is a convicted felony and has a history of arrests for stealing, tampering, violating an order of protection, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, non- assault and harassment.
Boer was scheduled for an initial appearance in court Friday at 1:15 p.m. He’s being held in the Jackson County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
