FIRST WARN FORECAST: Temperatures continue to climb Sunday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Our temperature roller coaster continues, climbing even more for Sunday. This looks to be our warmest day of the year so far and the first time we will hit 80 degrees. Also, with a forecast of 86 degrees, this is the hottest temperature since last October. Keep in mind that our normal high for this time of the year is 65 degrees. Wind gusts will be strong out of the southwest to start the day. Gusts up to 30-35 mph are not out of the question. As a weak cold front slides through in the afternoon, winds start to shift out of the northwest. The front will fully kick into gear Sunday night into Monday morning, and that is when you will notice some cooler changes.

Overnight temperatures stay mild as a stronger wind from the south stays in place. We are only expecting those lows to drop into the lower 50s. Already a mild start to Sunday. Those temperatures climb quickly through the morning and already should be near 80 degrees by noon. Mix of sun and clouds expected.
Once the front fully kicks in Sunday night into early Monday morning, temperatures fall quickly. Monday afternoon’s highs will be 20 degrees cooler in the mid 60s. There is a small chance for a few light showers also early in the day Monday, but my confidence is starting to fall that there will be many impacts. Maybe just a few raindrops out the door, but nothing measurable.

Temperatures fluctuate quite a bit over the next week. We keep the 60s in place for Tuesday before climbing back into the 70s on Wednesday. Then, near 80 degrees by Thursday. I am seeing signs of a few storm systems skirting the region mid to late week, so at this point, I have a 30% chance for rain on Wednesday and then again next Saturday. One of our computer models is a bit more aggressive with rain on Wednesday, with another showing little to nothing. At this point, I am not overly confident to have much activity on the radar. Overall, it is a warm pattern with a few small rain opportunities.
