Texas man charged for kidnapping Kansas City woman, stealing guns, car
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Charges have been filed against a man already accused of domestic violence after he allegedly kidnapped a Kansas City woman as he stole her firearms and car.
Platte County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, April 7, indicate that Brandon V. Turk, 26, of Tomball, Texas, has been charged in connection to the theft of several firearms from a kidnapping victim.
A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that on Aug. 5, 2024, law enforcement officials were called to an apartment near NW 85th Terr. and NW Barry Rd. with reports of a kidnapping.
When first responders arrived, they found a female victim who reported she had met Turk at the dog park. The pair struck a conversation, which continued in her apartment. As he advised he would be moving into the complex the following Monday, she allowed him to spend the weekend with her.
The victim reported she woke up around 9 a.m. Monday morning and as she turned the corner out of her bedroom, Turk, who had been hidden, grabbed her by her shirt. He pressed the victim’s firearm to her head and threatened her; he claimed to have murdered several individuals in Texas.
Investigators indicated that Turk allegedly proceeded to tie the victim up with a dog leash. He ordered her to stay on the floor as he pistol-whipped her in the back of the head. Ultimately, he forced her into a closet as he stole several firearms, cash and shoes from her, as well as her car.
Law enforcement officials noted that Turk was found in the stolen vehicle on Aug. 6 by the Minneapolis, Minnesota, Police Department. A warrant was not issued for his arrest out of Missouri until April 7. That warrant has the condition of a $150,000 bond.
Court documents revealed that Turk has been charged with robbery, armed criminal action, tampering with a motor vehicle, assault and kidnapping. A hearing has not yet been scheduled in this case.
Clay County Detention Center records indicated that Turk was booked into the Missouri jail on Nov. 5, 2024, in connection to a domestic violence and theft case. He is expected to make a plea in this case during a hearing at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15.
As of Friday, April 11, Turk remains behind bars in Clay Co. No further information has been released.
