Kansas City inmate charged after large amount of meth found in his pants leg

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An inmate in Kansas City could face a decade more behind bars after more than 30 grams of methamphetamine was found in his pants leg.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Saturday, April 5, indicate that Jeremy D. Macon, 37, an inmate, has been charged after more than 30 grams of meth was found in his possession.

A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that around 1 p.m. on March 10, law enforcement officials were advised that Macon had been in possession of narcotics.

Investigators said they ed Macon in his holding cell at the Kansas City Municipal Court, where they found a total of 32.28 grams of methamphetamine hidden in his pant leg.

Law enforcement officials noted that Macon claimed to have found the drugs in a container in the bathroom part of the detention cell and itted to having already ingested some. As a result, he has been charged with trafficking drugs. If convicted, he could be sentenced up to 10 years behind bars and to pay a $10,000 fine.

A bond review hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, with a preliminary hearing expedited at 1 p.m. on May 5.

As of Saturday, April 12, Macon remains behind bars on a $25,000 bond. No further information has been released.
