Police search for ATV driver who critically injured officer near the Crossroads

Police in Kansas City are searching for the driver of an ATV who drove over an officer near the Crossroads and left him with a critical head injury.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police in Kansas City are searching for the driver of an ATV who drove over an officer near the Crossroads and left him with a critical head injury.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that around 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, law enforcement officials were called to the area of E. Truman Rd. and S. Main St. with reports of a disturbance that involved a department member.

When first responders arrived, they said they found the driver of an ATV had attempted to avoid tire deflation devices. As he did so, he popped a wheelie and struck the officer who set the devices. The impact caused the PD member to fall to the ground before the ATV driver drove over him and sped off.

Investigators said the officer was taken to a nearby hospital with a critical head injury. No arrests have been made in the case and no further information has been released.
