Former Johnson County employee charged with child sex crimes
OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) - A former Johnson County employee is charged with three counts of crimes against a child.
Christopher Wehunt made his first appearance in court Monday, April 14. He is charged with three counts of sexually exploiting a child.

According to the complaint filed in Johnson County Court, Wehunt enticed someone he believed was under the age of 18 to engage in secually explicit conduct. He is also accused of having a video of someone under the age of 18 engaging in a sexually explicit act.
The complaint alleges the crimes happened between Aug. 1, 2024 and Oct. 11, 2024.
Another court document shows Wehunt acknowledged being in with at least 10 children to try to get nude images of them.
He was also found in possession of images that prosecutors believe show child sexual abuse.
Wehunt worked for Johnson County Government in the county’s emergency communications center from Jan. 1, 2015 until Oct. 21, 2024.
Additional details about the allegations have not been made public at this time.
Wehunt is held on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be in court again on April 23.
