Worker killed when FedEx semitruck hits construction vehicle
CAMP HILL, Pa. (Gray News) – A construction worker was killed early Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania State Police said a construction vehicle was in the closed right lane of a work zone picking up cones on Route 581 around 4:30 a.m.
Video from WGAL shows that a FedEx double semitruck crashed into the workers.
According to state police, the semitruck was driving in the left lane before drifting into the work zone and hitting the back of the construction vehicle.
The semitruck then hit a third vehicle and debris from the crash damaged a fourth vehicle, the crash report states.
Construction worker Hector Hernandez, 56, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said another construction worker, 63-year-old Ricky West, was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities with the Pennsylvania State Police Department did not specify if any charges have been filed.
