FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) - The U.S. Attorney’s office said two Mexican nationals are facing charges after thousands of rounds of ammunition were found in their vehicle.

Fremont County deputies said they stopped a vehicle in Canon City on March 26.

Officials said deputies searched the vehicle and ended up finding around 150 boxes of .308 ammunition and another 30 boxes of 7.62 ammunition.

Fremont County authorities said each box was labeled as containing 1,000 rounds of ammo.

The men arrested were identified as 41-year-old Caesar Ramon Martinez Solis and 24-year-old Humberto Ivan Amador Gavira of Mexico.

Both have been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition by an alien itted under a nonimmigrant visa, officials said.

Authorities said the case is part of Operation Take Back America.
