Cass County sex offender sweep results in 4 arrests

CASS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Cass County sex offender sweep resulted in four arrests on Thursday.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said it conducted Operation 2 Highway, “a multi-jurisdictional effort to the accuracy of all information provided by ed sex offenders in Cass County.”

During the check of 56 ed sex offenders, authorities made four arrests. They included:

  • An arrest for felony possession of firearms, including one that was stolen.
  • An arrest for possession of child sexual abuse material.
  • An arrest for failing to as a sex offender.
  • An arrest for active warrants in Cass County and other jurisdictions.

The Sheriff’s Office said a fifth sex offender is now under investigation for possibly violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

“We have successfully apprehended individuals who posed a serious threat to the well-being of our citizens. I commend the collaboration from numerous agencies in bringing these subjects to justice. We will continue to prioritize operations that Keep Cass County Safe,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

As part of the operation, authorities checked offenders in Creighton, Freeman, Garden City, East Lynne, Harrisonville, Lake Annette, Latour and West Line.
