LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - A Leavenworth man is going to prison after attempting to flee from police, on a bicycle.

On Feb. 6, officers in the area of Shawnee and North 10th Streets saw a man riding a bicycle without lights. When an officer attempted to pull him over, the suspect, 45-year-old Jereme C. Mann, took the bicycle off-road into a wooded area.

An officer parked, pursuing Mann on foot. Despite repeated commands identifying themselves as law enforcement and ordering Mann to stop, he continued to run until crashing into a large rock.

After being warned that a Taser would be used if he did not comply, Mann continued to run and was eventually stopped via taser.

On March 7, Mann pleaded guilty to interference with law enforcement. On Friday, Apr. 18, he was sentenced to 16 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.
