K-State’s CJ Jones becomes latest Wildcat to enter transfer portal

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KCTV) - K-State junior CJ Jones is the latest Wildcat to enter the transfer portal.
Jones, who played one season for the Wildcats following a transfer from the University of Illinois-Chicago, will have one season of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-5 guard from East St. Louis, Illinois, averaged 5.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for K-State during the 2024-25 season.
He was part of a K-State team that went 16-17 and missed the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
Jones made nine starts for the Wildcats but played 18.8 minutes per game over 33 games with head coach Jerome Tang’s team.
He s Dug McDaniel, Brendan Hausen, Macaleab Rich, Baye Fall and Ugonna Onyenso as Wildcats from this past season that have entered the transfer portal. So far, only Hausen has found a new school, committing to Iowa last week.
Jones’ departure comes a day after the Wildcats landed Akron guard Nate Johnson out of the transfer portal. Johnson was the MAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
