Spring warmth, First Warns for rain chances returning this week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A big green-up is underway!
Warm temperatures and recent rain will supercharge the spring bloom this week, and more rain is on the way. We are First Warning Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, as these are the days when weather may impact your plans due to rain and storm chances.
TUESDAY: Another pleasant spring day! The morning is in the low 50s, with warm highs near 80 for the afternoon. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny, though a quick shower is possible north of the metro around lunch. Winds will be light from the southwest at 5-10 mph. There is a chance for a couple of very isolated thunderstorms late Tuesday night, and there is a low chance that a storm could reach severe criteria. Hail and gusty winds would be the concern.
WEDNESDAY: First Warn due to scattered showers and thunderstorms. The rain chances are not overly high at 40% coverage, so some of us will remain dry. Still, the morning and lunch time frames will have a few showers and thunderstorms in the area. Otherwise, much of the afternoon looks dry with mid-70s.
THURSDAY: First Warn due to showers and thunderstorms at times, and rain could be heavy in spots. This is the wettest-looking day in the forecast. Still, it doesn’t look to be a washout, but rain should be expected at times through the day and into the evening. Highs will remain warm in the low 70s.
FRIDAY: The showers will largely be moving out, but some morning stragglers still bring a 30% chance. Mainly dry but cloudy for the afternoon with highs near 70.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy and mild, upper 60s. Rain chances are low at 20%.
SUNDAY: First Warn due to scattered showers and thunderstorms. The long-range computer forecasts bring a weather system through, carrying scattered showers and thunderstorms with it. We will be watching the trends throughout the week and have updates for you each step of the way. Highs will be near 70.
