KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A jackpot of $111,000 led to the fulfillment of a goal by one Missouri Lottery player to purchase a car he had always dreamed of buying.

The Missouri Lottery announced on Thursday, April 24, that one player was drawn to pick up a Show Me Cash ticket during the April 4 drawing after he tried out the game during a recent promotion. He would later learn the choice had become a jackpot worth $111,000, which would allow him to buy his dream car.

“I usually play Lotto, but I had got a Show Me Cash ticket during the St. Patrick’s Day promotion,” the winner explained. “I kinda liked that game, so I thought I’d give it a try.”

The winner said he bought the ticket at the Hy-Vee on NE Rice Rd. in Lee’s Summit. He checked his winning numbers after the drawing.

“The ticket I scanned said go to the Lottery office, which I’d never seen before,” he said. “So then I looked up the winning numbers and I couldn’t believe it!”

Now, the player said the funds are set to go toward the purchase of a vehicle he had always wanted.

“I got a new car, and every morning I wake up and I look out into the garage to make sure I wasn’t dreaming!” he laughed.

The Missouri Lottery noted that Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m. Jackpots start at $50,000 and grow until they are won. The April 24 jackpot is estimated to be around $94,000.

According to lottery officials, players who purchased tickets in Jackson County during the 2024 fiscal year won more than $109.8 million in prizes. Retailers received more than $9.8 million in commissions and bonuses as education programs pulled in $22 million in appropriated proceeds.
