Animal Control officers attempt to renest stubborn juvenile owl
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - Animal Control Officers in Overland Park spent the morning attempting to renest a juvenile owl that had been found on the ground.
The Overland Park Police Department says that on Thursday morning, April 24, Animal Control Officers were called to a home with reports of an owl that appeared unable to fly.
When Animal Control Officers arrived, they said they found the owl was a juvenile still learning to fly. The owl likely fell out of a nearby nest. They encouraged it to perch on nearby trees, but it was uncooperative.
Ultimately, OPPD indicated that the young owl sought refuge in the branches of a nearby bush. The situation appears to be natural as the owl is learning to fly. No immediate intervention seems necessary at this point. Community have been encouraged to leave the owl be.
