HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) - Dash camera video shows a Virginia State Police Trooper and a bystander jumping over a guardrail to avoid a car crashing into them.

The crash happened Sunday night along Route 220 in Henry County, Virginia.

Authorities said the patrol vehicle was stopped in the right travel lane with its emergency lights activated while a trooper was assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle when the driver of a Toyota Highlander SUV hit the patrol vehicle.

The trooper and the other driver jumped over the guardrail to avoid being hit.

The Toyota driver was taken to a hospital and later charged with reckless driving.

The trooper and the driver of the disabled vehicle sustained minor injuries.
