ORRICK, Mo. (KCTV) - A 63-year-old man is recovering in a Kansas City area hospital after he crossed the centerline of a Missouri highway and ran into the trailer of a semi-truck.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, emergency crews were called to the area of Missouri Highway 10 and Egypt Rd., west of Orrick, with reports of a 3-vehicle crash.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 63-year-old Missouri City man had been driving a 2002 Chevrolet 1500 west on the highway when, for an unknown reason, he veered across the centerline and hit the trailer of a ing 2010 Volvo semi-truck driven by a 41-year-old South Glen, Illinois, man.

State Troopers noted that a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 30-year-old Richmond man had also been involved in the crash, but it remains unclear how.

Emergency crews indicated that the Missouri City driver was taken to North Kansas City Hospital with serious injuries. Everyone involved had been wearing a seatbelt at the time. The other two drivers escaped the crash without injury.

Investigators said the 2002 Chevrolet was totaled as a result, while both of the other vehicles sustained minor damage. No further information has been released.
