2 fatalities confirmed after car plunges into Truman Lake following crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has reopened a section of Missouri 7 Highway after they recovered a car from the lake below.

According to MSHP, Friday night, April 25, a car crossed into oncoming traffic while driving on the Mile Long Bridge over Truman Lake. The driver hit an SUV that had been towing a boat, sending the SUV off the bridge and into the water.

Few details have been released, but MSHP confirmed that one driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The SUV’s driver was recovered from the lake and also pronounced dead.

The highway has since been reopened.
