Teen taken to metro area hospital after thrown from ATV south of Lawson
LAWSON, Mo. (KCTV) - A teenager was taken to a metro area hospital over the weekend after he was thrown from an ATV along a highway south of Lawson.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 69 and NE 174th St. with reports of an ATV collision.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a 14-year-old boy had been driving a 2020 green Sportman 450 ATV south on the highway when, for an unknown reason, he veered off the right side of the road.
State Troopers said the ATV returned to the roadway, but the teen was thrown from it in the process. He was taken to Liberty Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators noted that the teenager was wearing a safety device at the time of the incident. The ATV sustained moderate damage as a result. No further information has been released.
