Police investigate after bicyclist dies during hit-and-run crash in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police have opened an investigation into a hit-and-run crash in Kansas City after a cyclist was killed over the weekend.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says the incident happened near 37th and Cleveland Ave., blocks away from Seven Oaks Park, around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a bicyclist had been headed east on 37th St. when they failed to stop at a posted stop sign. As they continued through the intersection, they were hit by a dark-colored vehicle headed south on Cleveland Ave.

After the cyclist was hit, investigators said the driver sped off. First responders pronounced the bicyclist deceased at the scene.
This marks the 19th fatality crash KD has investigated this year, compared to 38 at this time last year. The investigation remains ongoing. No further information has been released.
