“Sound the Alarm” event helped install smoke alarms in Independence homes
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The Independence Fire Department and American Red Cross partnered with a local church to install smoke alarms in Independence homes.
“Sound the Alarm” is a nationwide initiative that helps prepare families for home fires. Volunteers partnered with the Englewood Church of Independence to go door to door and install alarms in nearby homes on Saturday, April 26.

The Salvation Army and Taking it to the Streets provided volunteers breakfast and lunch.
The American Red Cross provides resources and information to help community prepare for home fire tragedies.
