Free ride: Kansas sheriff’s office busts underage party, offers free rides home
ALMA, Kan. (KCTV) - A Kansas Sheriff has a surprising offer for teenagers who decide to celebrate a little too much.
Wabaunsee County Sheriff Eric Kirsch and his deputies busted an underage party in a rural area west of Topeka, then they made the teenagers an offer.
According to the post, most of the deputies are combat veterans or veteran law enforcement officers. The message said they’ve worked a lot of horrific crimes and simply don’t want a bad decision to drive drunk to lead to another one on their watch.
The deputies called the parents of each underage person at this week’s party. Then they waited around for the parents to show up.
None of the teenagers were cited for minor in possession and each one got home safely, according to the sheriff. Then Sheriff Kirsch posted a letter to the teenagers at the party.
The deputies involved then posed for a picture with some of the teenagers who attended the party.
