Flags at all Missouri firehouses to fly at half-staff in honor of slain firefighter
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Flags have been ordered to fly at half-staff at all firehouses across the state of Missouri as friends and family of a Kansas City firefighter lay him to rest.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe announced on Thursday, May 1, that in honor of fallen Kansas City Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic Graham Hoffman, flags have been ordered to fly at half-staff at all firehouses in the Show-Me State.
Gov. Kehoe noted that flags at government buildings in Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte counties and at the Fire Fighters Memorial of Missouri in Kingdom City are also ordered to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 2.
“Graham Hoffman was a young man who was full of comion, a desire to help others, and a dedication to saving lives,” Kehoe said. “This past weekend, as he worked an overtime shift, Firefighter/Paramedic Hoffman’s life was tragically cut short by senseless violence as he treated a patient. We pray for Graham’s loved ones and the entire Kansas City Fire Department family as we mourn the loss of this young first responder.”
During the early-morning hours of Sunday, April 27, Hoffman, 29, was fatally stabbed by a patient, Shanetta Bossell, who has since been charged with murder, during transport to a local hospital.
The Governor indicated that flags will be held at half-staff as Hoffman’s friends and family lay him to rest on Friday.
