WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Across the country on Thursday, thousands of protesters came together for May Day, to worker’s rights and to speak out against the Trump istration’s actions.

Over 1,000 protests were scheduled for the day, also known as International Workers’ Day.

May Day is a holiday held every year, to celebrate labor. It typically draws people out to rally in of worker’s rights. In the U.S, the president’s policies and actions were front and center during the demonstrations.

“We are fighting against this istration, against mass deportation, against ICE in our communities. And to bring Kilmar [Abrego Garcia] back,” said CASA organizer Alberto Feregrino at a rally held in Washington, D.C.

CASA, an immigrant advocacy group, helped lead the rally, which was held to demand labor and immigrant worker protections.

“Immigrants are outraged,” said Jossie Florsapunar, National Communications Director for CASA. “There’s a moment at which respect and dignity was thrown off the table and what we’re they finding is that the Trump istration is purposely inflicting terror in order to scare people into submission.”
