Two Pettis County deputies shot while serving warrant, suspect in custody
PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - Two Pettis County deputies are recovering from gunshot wounds Friday morning after attempting to serve a warrant related to drug charges.
Law enforcement stated that the two deputies responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Missouri BB Highway in Pettis County — between Sedalia and Marshall Junction — about 6 a.m. for the warrant.
The suspect is reported to have pulled a gun and fired at the deputies, striking them. One deputy returned fire, but the suspect was not hit.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Pettis County Jail.

One of the injured deputies was treated and released while the other is still hospitalized and expected to recover.
KCTV5 spoke to neighbors who said they weren’t surprised by the situation, as they’ve seen police at the home before.
“I think it’s terrible,” said Chuck Adams, who lives in Sedalia. “It’s just really sad, I mean we’ve got police officers that have families, they go to work every day, you know, they don’t know if they’re going to come home safe or not.”
Adams works in ministry and spends a lot of time with people who used to be involved with drugs.
“It seems like it’s gotten worse, but you know they’ve come from bigger cities, come down here and distribute their drugs down here,” Adams said.
Just like everyone else, he is just thankful the deputies are expected to be ok.
“I just hope and pray that both of them heal and be able to put it behind them,” Adams said.
