Plan ahead: Downtown Kansas City, Johnson County drivers could see weekend traffic delays

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Mother’s Day weekend will likely be a busy one for thousands in the Kansas City area.

If driving the interstates is your method of travel, there are some planned road closures to be aware of.

Crews will perform repaving work requiring the weekend closures on EB I-670 from 18th Street across the state line to Troost Avenue. The closure will last from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, until 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 11.

The work will also continue May 16-19.

The Missouri Department of Transportation stated that motorists traveling on EB I-670 will be detoured around the closures on I-70.

On the Kansas side, eastbound and westbound I-435 will be closed between Quivira Road and Antioch Road from 7 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.
