KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Monday morning, out the door looks comfortable and cool in the mid-50s. Those temperatures warm quickly to the lower 80s. We are expecting sunshine mixed with a few clouds. Our airmass in place starts to turn a bit more humid as moisture surges back from the Gulf.

Due to warmth and slightly more humidity, you will have a small chance for a random pop-up afternoon/early evening shower on the Missouri side, but most of us will stay dry.

We turn up the heat a few degrees on Tuesday as highs make it back to the mid-80s. This is standard for the heart of the summer. It doesn’t end there. Wednesday looks to be the hottest day of the week as we push into the upper 80s. Some spots could even see their first 90-degree day of the year. With the moderate humidity levels in place, it could feel like the lower 90s. We stay warm in the mid to upper 80s on Thursday, but a cold front starts to work into the region.

Our computer model guidance still is not indicating much rain or thunderstorm development, but we still think there’s a small chance into Thursday evening, mainly to the southeast of KC. With the front not clearing the region until Friday, we might have another random shower or storm pop up Friday as well. At this point, just 20% confidence on Thursday and 30% on Friday, but it is something we are going to watch closely.

Next weekend temperatures throttle back to be much less hot, but still on the warm side. Expect upper 70s and lower 80s to return. While it will be hot this week, next week should settle back down to May standards.
