Overland Park homeowners believe charging electronic may have sparked garage fire
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - One person was hospitalized early Sunday morning after a fire started in their garage.
The Overland Park Fire Department was dispatched to a home in the area of W. 119th Street and Antioch Road around 6:30 a.m. on May 11. Firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the two-story home’s garage.
Crews reported that the fire took about 10 minutes to extinguish. The damage was isolated to the garage, with minor smoke affecting the living space.
The homeowners told OPFD they believe a hoverboard charging in the garage may have caused the fire. One resident tried to put the fire out with a garden hose and was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation.
No other injuries were reported.
