WACO, Texas (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is officially a Hall-of-Famer, starting with Texas high schools.

On Saturday, the 29-year-old was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025. The private ceremony in Waco, Texas, included Mahomes and former Baylor star quarterback Robert Griffin III.

During the ceremony, Mahomes pledged to sign 15 high schools, including his alma mater, to Team Mahomes. In partnership with Adidas, the schools will receive team football uniforms emblazoned with his gladiator logo.

Mahomes graduated from Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, in 2014. There, recruiting services ranked him as a 3-star prospect after he threw for more than 8,000 yards and 90 touchdowns during his final two seasons.

He continued his football career at Texas Tech for three seasons before he was drafted into the National Football League in 2017.

Ahead of the induction, Dave Campbell posted a video essay on Mahomes saying, “The Texas High School Football Hall of Fame recognizes those who impacted the game beyond compare in a state where excellence is the standard.”

It is anticipated that Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP, will become a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer when he goes into Canton.
