Amazon Missouri and Kansas scholarship winners both from Kansas City metro area

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Amazon awarded its Future Engineer Scholarships, and the Kansas City metro area had the winning students for both Kansas and Missouri.

Trinh Ha, from Overland Park, attends Blue Valley West High School and is the Kansas winner.

Dimitri Nguyen, from Kansas City, Missouri, attends Winnetonka High School and is the Missouri winner.

Both will receive up to $40,000 across four years to pursue a degree in computer science or engineering at the college each will be attending.

They are among 400 students across the country who received the award and a paid internship offer at Amazon after their freshman year of college.

Winners were chosen based on a variety of criteria like academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, work experience, future goals and financial need. Amazon partnered with Scholarship America to review and select the 400 students.

Ha plans on majoring in data science at Boston University. Nguyen plans to major in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
