Mission man charged with shooting at car, attacking police officer

MISSION, Kan. (KCTV) - A Mission man is accused of attempted murder and attacking a police officer.

The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office charged Isaiah C. Joest with the following:

  • Attempted second-degree murder
  • Criminal discharge of a firearm
  • Interference with a law enforcement officer
  • Battery on a law enforcement officer

The criminal complaint accuses Joest of shooting a gun at a car on Sunday, May 11. A woman was in the car near W. 51st Place and Foxridge Drive at the time of the shooting.

The complaint then accuses Joest of fleeing from police and assaulting a police officer.

No one was injured according to Mission police.

Joest will appear in court Monday afternoon.
