Local businesses gear up for Chiefs season ahead of schedule announcement
NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City area businesses are warming up for Chiefs season ahead of the team’s 2025 NFL schedule release on Wednesday.
Chappell’s Restaurant and Sports Museum is one local business that says they are ready. They get packed on game days and are hoping for many more wins this season.
“When the Chiefs win, it’s great. It’s always good for business,” said Jim Chappell, founder of Chappell’s Restaurant and Sports Museum.
Football Sundays weren’t always part of the regular hours at Chappell’s in North Kansas City, but the Chiefs played a big part in changing that.
“I was picked the number one place in the country to watch the Super Bowl about 10 years ago by USA Today, and I wasn’t open on Sundays so that one Sunday I had to open,” Chappell said.
That was five years ago. Since then, thanks to the turnout and success, they’ve stayed open on other game days, and they look forward to serving more crowds of hungry fans this season.
“People come in for the memorabilia, but they come back for the food,” Chappell said.
Since 1986, sports fans have come from near and far to ire memorabilia posted on the walls representing teams across the country. When those fans return, Chappell’s says they’ll be ready with more manpower, drinks, and specials.

Visit KC estimates each regular season home game brings in around $13 million in economic impact, with playoff games generating about $16 million. The Chiefs’ overall presence generates nearly $29 million in annual tax revenue and s nearly 6,000 jobs across the Kansas City metro.
“We just want to have the atmosphere of a winning football team. That’s the number one thing,” Chappell said. “The whole atmosphere is different when you win because I’ve been through some losing seasons.”
Chappell’s has been part of the community since 1986, growing alongside the team. These days, football Sundays have become part of the restaurant’s identity all thanks to the Chiefs.
Business has never been better, and they’re hoping for even more wins this season.
“If we go to the Super Bowl again, we’ll win it all the way and that’s what makes everything good,” Chappell said. “We’ll have a crowd here. It’s nice. And winning is everything.”
The full 2025 schedule will be revealed on NFL Network, the NFL app, NFL+ and the NFL website at 7 p.m. on May 14.
