LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The City of Lawrence is set to crack down on chronic parking violations with a new policy.

Starting May 19, the City will begin putting parking boots on cars owned by people with three or more unpaid parking tickets. The tickets must be over 60 days old, but only apply to tickets that were issued on or after Jan. 1, 2025.

Tickets issued before Jan. 1, 2025, will continue through the standard legal process.

Once a car has been booted, the owner has 48 hours to pay their overdue fees or the vehicle may be impounded. Once paid, there is a 24-hour call line that owners can to have the boot removed.

Car owners have until May 19 to resolve their applicable outstanding tickets by paying online.

More information can be found on the City of Lawrence’s website.
