Independence police investigating fatal shooting believed to be isolated incident

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The Independence Police Department says one man was killed in a Tuesday evening shooting that remains under investigation.
According to the department, officers were called to the area of High Street and Cherry Street just before midnight on May 13 on a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, the officers found a man lying in the driveway of a home with gunshot wounds. They attempted to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released. IPD said there are no suspects in custody, but there is no threat to the public.
Anyone with information is asked to the Independence Police Department as the investigation is ongoing.
